So today is Austin's birthday. He is 22, which is my new favorite age. I, for one, am so grateful that Austin was born. He's been a real good big brother. One time when we were little, he was 6 and I was 4, he told me that he hated me. He had good reason -- I was following him around the house and being annoying and he wanted to go play at his friend's house and I was complaining because I wanted him to stay and play with me. So he told me that he hated me. I told my dad, and he got busted. When I reminded him of that one time I said "I'm glad we've moved past that" and he said "Yeah, I'm glad you don't tell on me as much anymore."
Not only does

Austin have a great sense of humor, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't hate me anymore. He is my best friend. He's great to talk to about anything. When I was at school this past quarter I would call him every time I had some sort of dilemma -- spiritual, with friends, with school, bike accident. He is a good listener, he gives good advice. He's good at building things and fixing things. He's good with babies, like my dad. When we were at Andy and Charlene's house last week, Austin

was playing

with Liz's son Brodie and when we went to say goodbye, Brodie took Austin's face in his hands, looked at him in the eyes, then brought him in and kissed him (on the mouth.) I'm not sure why I shared that, but I guess it's just an example of how loved and amazing Austin is.
Happy Birthday.
