Baking Bread

I'm teaching Enzo how to make bread so that by the time he's five he'll be a pro. He likes it except he's always eating the dough. He's very smart though, he's figuring out how to do all kinds of things like moving chairs around to climb up and get things, opening doors, climbing baby gates, climbing on top of his dresser, etc. Maybe because its been cold and raining non-stop for a week here, plus south winds which mean bad surf so no one has been leaving the house lately . Its been a long week inside the house. I took Enzo outside one afternoon and he clapped when we finally got outside. On saturday afternoon we went to the beach even though it was grey and rainy. I've attached some photos, really the only reason I wrote all this was to show the photos.

Christian also didn't mention that the last two pictures he took after I had taken maybe 100 pictures at the beach. He took maybe 5 altogether. When we got home I was excited to see the masterpieces I shot. They were all terrible (really!). These last two were the best, and of course he's the one who took them. I like the sand one the best.

Enzo is so big. So so big. SOOOOO big. It makes me sad. He was supposed to stop until we saw you again, at which point he could resume his growing.
Amaya just eats the bread dough too. She doesn't like actual baked bread, just the dough. The bread will be rising on the counter and later I will come back and there will be several deflated areas and pinch marks where she stuck her hand up on the counter and felt around for the dough to steal some. She keeps saying, "bite? bite? t'some? t'some?" the whole time I'm kneading the dough.

Oh, I also wanted to say that I've decided that Enoch is right--
no knead bread cooked in a dutch oven is the best bread you can make at home. It's amazing, and so easy, and only takes 3 cups of flour, no oil, and only a 1/4 t of yeast. Look it up on google-- the new york times article has the recipe.

what a cute toothy grin. i never knew about amaya and the bread dough. amaya has quit reaching for me since i've been too busy to pay her much attention (and she was sick). she delivers wonderful discourses with a few intelligible words. i'm going to have to start posting without pictures. adam says i have no interest or aptitude for learning how to use a good camera, and i'm not interested in the pictures i take with the lesser models. it's all rather pathetic. also, did everyone know that scott and moana minton are an item? scott's downright giddy. sienna says it seems kind of incestuous--scott is like a brother and moana is like a sister. i don't think so though, i think it's pretty cool.

i hate the taste of raw bread dough. i can't belive those silly babies. i will have to try that no knead bread. i remember it being good. not that we have a dutch oven or a very good oven for that matter. love the pics. enzo does seem to have quite a few more teeth than the last time i saw him.
