Monterey Aquarium

Christian is living it up in Tahoe, snowboarding with the YM for the weekend. Enzo and I took a day trip out to Monterey and it was amazing. The Monterey Aquarium is out of this world, especially when you have friends who can lend you guest passes so you can go for free (score!).

My favorite exhibit were the Jelly fish. I was mesmerized with all the colors and movements. It felt like I was watching an underwater ballet.

I've been a pretty uneventful mom these last couple weeks so I really just wanted to go with Enzo's timing. This meant not seeing a lot of grown upish exhibits. He was totally freaked out by the sharks, for example.

This resulted in a lot of time spent at the kiddie areas such as this slide. He was stoked to find this seahorse costume. About a week ago I showed him a picture of an embryo and he was really excited and said "Woah, a seahorse" so today when he found the costume he wanted to wear it the whole time.

We also found a train car and a caboose that we could play in which is an automatic bonus.

Video of Enzo and his favorite activity

oops

in an attempt to edit Kaity's blog name on the blog list that used to be on the side I accidently deleted the whole thing. I took everyone out of my reader so now I don't have people's blog address. Can you add the blogs you remember and any other blogs you want to the list? I've made everyone an administrator so I think everyone will be able to do it.
thanks

Austin and Mimi Blogspot

Karen already put a link to this little wannabe blog that I made for all of you, but in case you haven't saved it to your computer, go to http://austinandmimi.blogspot.com/

You can save the pictures that my dad scanned and print them out or whatever you want. Also, if you have a favorite family photo or something that you want me to add, just send it to me at http://eldbell_russ@yahoo.com and I'll add it. All that I had to work with was what was on my dad's old computer(he's the one who spent billions of hours scanning slides on old school equipment), so I would love a photo of Shelley and Steve and I can't remember what else I am missing. I hope you like it! Love, Liz

Some more pics from Debi

This is an e-mail I received from Debi (Enoch's old girlfriend) yesterday

Hey Santa Cruz Palmer types,
Had myself a New Year's clean out and came to a box of stuff I saved from 1991. Found a "World" Sienna made when she was 6, and a note she gave me. Pics of everyone on a Sunday and a few disco ones Adam would love to see published to the world I am sure. I think the pic with e is at a dance on a ship. NOT SURE HOW TO GET THESE TO EVERYONE AND HOPE YOU WILL TRY AND THUS VALIDATE ALL THE SILLY BOXES IN MY STOREROOM. Love the little Sienna findings mostly and hope she gets them. I NEVER check my gmail account, but am here at this address or on my blog at www.sacajawea-sings.blogspot.com
enjoy the pics.

I promised a picture yesterday and today someone sent this to me via e-mail. It's a good day all around!

Adam, your hair is so fabulous it makes me want to call you up right now and convince you to grow it out again.

OBAMA!

So we are so lucky to be here, thanks to Emily and Ben and Ben's family and Ben's friend Kevin for giving us his extra tickets. We woke up at 5am to take a bus to the mall. Ben's mom and sister knitted matching red hats with blue and white pom-poms for all of us. They were very cute and they really helped us to keep track of each other. Our tickets were split up in three sections, we were the farthest away, but we still liked feeling the spirit. I could not see a single thing, but I could hear it and definitely could feel the cold winter air. It was a beautiful speech and it was crazy to see all of the crowds and people. Despite huge crowds and long lines, people were very considerate and happy to be a part of something so special. I heard on the news that there were two million people there, which is probably why you never saw us, but we were there, here are a few pictures to prove it. Tony took most of the pictures this trip, since I was too cold and overwhelmed by all the people.

Our only celeb-siting was seeing President Uchtdorf after the ceremony. Tony tapped him on the shoulder and asked him how he liked the inauguration. He said he liked it and shook our hands. Luckily he wasn't surrounded by crowds since no one knew who he was except us. (Not like when we saw him at Nauvoo and people were following him around.).

early morning.

this is with our new wide angle lens. i was sitting on tony's shoulders. it was crazy how many people were there.

It's almost here (and almost over)

The Bush era is almost over and for someone who listens to Democracy Now every morning where I get to hear sound bites of absurd things he says and then proceed to yell back at the radio, this is going to be fabulous for my emotional well being. (was that a super long run on sentence?)

So, I honestly had fantasies of going to the inaguration but I guess the good luck fairy decided to favor Sienna and Tony instead. (I am super happy for you guys btw)

On Tuesday I will be on the other side of the country smiling my face off celebrating the presidential inauguration of MR. BARACK OBAMA (whoot, whoot). Every time I say his name it comes out in a super high pitched voice because I'm so excited I can't help but squeal in delight.

On Tuesday Morning we are hosting a presidential breakfast at our place and projecting the inauguration on the wall. At night we are SO going to an inaugural ball that is being held here at school. I get a new president and I get to wear a fancy dress all in one day?! SWEET!!!

What are your plans for the big day?

I saw this on the NY Times and think you should take a look. Meet Obama's people.

As for our family...
we haven't taken many pictures since we've been back b/c there is really nothing to take pictures of hence this long post without any pictures (everybody's favorite).

I am having the hardest semester of my life. It doesn't help that I am exhausted and have started sleeping in my classes. It also doesn't help that I am TAing a class about the Middle Ages, have 60 students, and know NOTHING about the subject. I am also completely demoralized trying to sort of kind of not really do my thesis. Remind me in a couple years when I apply for a PhD  program what I just said.

Christian is fabulously staying healthy while Enzo and I remain sick. He has the easiest TAship in the history if TAships and he likes to remind me of this on a daily basis.

Enzo is talking up a storm. He woke up yesterday cracking up. He was laughing hysterically because he said that in his head when he was sleeping he saw ducks jumping on a trampoline. I thought it was pretty funny and decided to take him to go see some ducks at the pond. He was super unhappy with them just being ducks and not jumping on a trampoline. He's obsessed with the color pink. He wants to wear pink every day but doesn't really own any pink things. To make up for the lack of pink around the house I made him a huge batch of pink play-do which he is super excited about and likes to use the heart shaped cookie cutter to cut hearts with. I think he'll really be into Valentine's day this year.

I was going to only write about the Obama thing but since I haven't blogged in a while I decided to give you the low down on the fam.

sorry for the super long post. I promise to put up some pictures next time.
